Tablet Tuesday: Get a 10.1-inch Android 4.0 tablet for $129.99
It's an off-brand model with limited storage, but for that price it's hard to complain.
When it comes to browsing the Web, playing games, and watching movies, nothing beats a big tablet -- by which I mean one with a 10-inch screen.
Typically that means paying at least $399, but not today. For a limited time, and while supplies last, Digideal (via Rakuten, formerly Buy.com) has the Kocaso M1062 10.1-inch Android tablet for $129.99 shipped.
Quick caveat: I first spotted this deal yesterday afternoon, so there's a possibility it was a one-day-only offer that's due to expire at any moment. If it does, my apologies. For the record, it sells elsewhere for around $150.
Kocaso, huh? Yep, kind of an off brand, though I had the chance to play with a couple of its tablets last year and came away mostly impressed. (Here's my write-up of the 7-inch Kocaso M760W if you're interested.)
The M1062 is pretty loaded, starting with a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, dual cameras, HDMI-out, and Android 4.0.
It also boasts a 10.1-inch capacitive touch screen, though with a less-than-stellar 1,024x600-pixel resolution. Also less than stellar: just 8GB of storage, though you can add up to 32GB more via cheap microSD cards. One definite bummer: no Bluetooth.
I haven't found any professional reviews of this model, but you can read nine mostly positive user reviews over at Newegg (where it sells for $149.95). Is it a perfect tablet? No. Is it good for Web browsing, movie watching, game playing, and the like, all for a rock-bottom price? Almost certainly.
Indeed, this might be a fine option if you have younger kids. They can abuse the sucker all the want, while you keep your beloved (and way more expensive) iPad safe and sound. Thoughts?
Bonus deal: DealFisher is once again offering the refurbished Apple EarPods, this time for $13.49 shipped (which is 50 cents less than last time). I received mine in about five days after ordering, and they're indistinguishable from new. Speaking of which, Apple charges $29 for a new pair. Excellent deal!
