T-Mobile injects some fun into the HTC HD2

BARCELONA, Spain--During its press conference on Tuesday morning, T-Mobile revealed that it will ship the upcoming HTC HD2 with an array of entertainment applications to really take advantage of the smartphone's 4.3-inch WVGA multitouch screen and 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and to provide users with a robust multimedia experience.

To start, the HD2 will be the first handset to support Blockbuster's On Demand video download application, which lets you preview and download movies on the go. Once purchased, you can watch the video on another other connected device, such as a TV, a Blu-Ray Disc player, or a PC, using Blockbuster software.

However, you don't even have to look far to experience movies on the smartphone. T-Mobile is actually shipping the HD2 with a 16GB memory card preloaded with both the "Transformers" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" movies, both of which have been optimized for viewing on the smartphone's display.

If you're feeling a little more intellectual, the smartphone will also offer a Barnes & Noble's eReader app. This will give you access to the eBookstore where you can access more than a million eBooks, newspapers, magazines as well as any content you've downloaded as a previous Barnes & Noble account holder.

Other goodies include MobiTV and up to six months free in-flight Wi-Fi access, thanks to Gogo Inflight Internet service. We're digging all the new content but now we're craving the device even more and unfortunately, T-Mobile didn't provide any additional details about release date or pricing. The carrier still expects to ship the Windows Mobile-based HTC HD2 in the spring.
