Synchronize Pro X 5.0.5: Crashes after updating

CNET staff

Several users of Synchronize Pro -- a tool for synchronizing data between folders or volumes -- are reporting repeated crashes under varying circumstances after updating to version 5.0.5.

Among the reader reports, Paul Johnson writes:

"I installed today's update to Synchronize Pro X and the application now no longer works. When I attempt to do a synch bootable backup the app compiles a list of folders that need to be synched and then quits with a dialog box that says it has quit unexpectedly."

VersionTracker poster samarb adds:

"I rely on Synchronize Pro, and have used it for years for all my heavy bootable back-up work. I downloaded and installed 5.0.5 immediately and tried it on a MacPro to firewire drive back-up. It scanned the files quickly and then put up the copy screen and simply froze. Twice. I've had to re-install 5.0.4 until Qdea fixes it. Advice--do not throw away your 5.0.4 until you're satisfied that 5.0.5 works."
