Symantec Buys WinFax

Symantec Corporation, the king of PC software utilities such as antivirus and backup software, is buying Delrina Corporation for $415 million. Delrina makes the legendary Opus 'n' Bill Screen Saver--in which megazillionaire Bill G. is tormented by a neurotic penguin.

Delrina also makes WinFax Pro and WinFax Lite, as well as Echo Lake, a software package for recording family events. According to Delrina officials, the company has sold over 10 million copies of WinFax since 1990.
