Google unwrapped its latest Android 4.4 operating system and a new flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5. CNET's Bridget Carey breaks down the new system perks.

Google revealed the features of Android 4.4 KitKat. And since the operating system is named after candy, it's quite fitting to unwrap the news on Halloween. This episode of Update explains the perks of Android KitKat, such as the fact that it's compatible with older and cheaper phones.

Today's roundup also covers the Nexus 5, the first smartphone to work with KitKat. It's selling for $349 unlocked on the Google Play store.
