Steve Jobs' advice: Don't live a 'limited life'

A few words of advice from late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs have been doing the rounds online -- we've embedded them below so you can take a peep for yourself.

In the clip, which is part of a PBS documentary entitled Steve Jobs: One Last Thing, a bearded, buttoned-up Jobs offers the following nuggets of wisdom:

"When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is, and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

"That's a very limited life," Jobs says. "Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact. And that is, everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

"Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again."

Sound advice from a man who certainly wasn't known for compromise. A sometimes intimidating figure, Jobs had a singular vision for the way Apple's products should be, from the first iPod to the MacBook Air and iPhone. He also vowed "thermonuclear war" on Android, which he believed was stolen.

The iPhone 4S was the first Apple product to go on sale after Jobs' death in early October. It's selling very well, but it remains to be seen whether Apple's winning streak will continue unhindered without Jobs at the helm.

Still, all navel-gazing aside, here's a decent bit of advice from an industry champion. Now get out there and invent stuff!
