Joe Sponn's Performa 6360 refused to start up (bus error) a few days after he updated to Mac OS 8. He eventually traced the problem to a corrupted Startup Screen file. He started up from a CD-ROM disc, removed the file, and has not had the problem since.
Actually, several readers have reported problems with startup screen files in Mac OS 8. However, based on feedback I have now received from readers, many people are clearly using startup screens with no problem at all.
