Speed Doubler and AppleScript glitch?

Speed Doubler and AppleScript glitch?

CNET staff
Two readers (Rob Goldsmith and Sam Garwood) have reported exactly the same Speed Doubler 8.1.2 glitch. In a nutshell:

Speed Doubler apparently uses AppleScript for some part of its "faster copy" feature. If it fails to find AppleScript installed, it will likely report an error message about this at startup. The glitch derives from the fact that Apple changed the name of the AppleScript extension in Mac OS 8.5: from AppleScript™ to AppleScript. Speed Doubler searches specifically for the name that includes the Trademark symbol and (when it fails to find it) reports an error even though the newer AppleScript is actually installed. Sam found that the obvious work-around indeed worked: add the TM symbol to the name.

Curiously, I use Speed Doubler 8.1.2 with the new AppleScript and have never seen this error message. Not sure why. I have contacted Connectix for more information.
