Special material could prevent hoverboard fires (Tomorrow Daily 298)

Jeff and Ashley cover a nano-nickel film designed to stop battery fires and a collaboration between Ford and IBM aiming to help streamline urban transportation.

You've seen the videos: hoverboards spontaneously combusting, a product of cheaply made batteries and unstable collisions. Stanford researchers think they have a solution to lithium ion battery fires with a nano-nickel film designed to stop the battery from getting too hot. It's an interesting idea, and one we hope eventually finds its way into lots of different kinds of technology. We're also talking about Ford and IBM's new collaboration (and how it might help you find a parking space with ease in the future).

We're back tomorrow with our long-form episode -- see you then!
