Sous vide cooking is coming home with Sansaire
For $199, a sous vide immersion circulator could be yours, but there is a catch: you have to wait just a little bit longer.
For those who have been patiently waiting for a sous vide cooker to come down to the realm of the everyday budget, a quickly funded Kickstarter project might just be the answer. The Sansaire is an affordable solution for those looking to dive into the relatively new method of sous vide cooking. Judging by the campaign reaching 4.5 times its funding goal only about halfway through the period, it's probably safe to say that many have been waiting for just this opportunity.
The Sansaire Sous Vide Circulator ($199) combines a heater with a circulator offering the ability for users to precisely control the temperature of a water bath using practically any vessel. Similar to last year's (also a successful Kickstarter project), the immersion circulator and heater keeps costs low while providing exhilarating results.
Envisioned by Scott Heimendinger, who has had previous success sharing a DIY sous vide cooker on his blog, he sees a near future with everyday people enjoying meals such as steaks served pink from edge to edge and juicy chicken dripping with flavor. Of course, that's just the start. With a cooking technique that cooks food at the temperature it is to be served at, meals can simply not be overcooked. This paves the way for fantastic innovations in home kitchens everywhere as the affordable appliance becomes available. Time to start counting the days until the estimated delivery date of November 2013 arrives.
