While the Xperia Z1 Ultra is Sony's flagship big-screen phone, the T2 Ultra aims to hit a more affordable price point.

The 6-inch phone features a 1.4GHz quad core processor, but doesn't have the dust- and water-resistance of the Z1 Ultra, as well as making do with the lower 720p screen resolution. It does, however, pack in a 13-megapixel camera and a rather big 3000mAh battery. Australia is also getting the dual-SIM variant.

The price point is likely to be the clincher for many potential owners: you can get it from Sony Centres, Sony Kiosks and online for AU$499. If you want to buy it from a non-Sony retailer, the cost is AU$549, but that includes a Bluetooth headset priced at AU$79.

The T2 Ultra was actually designed for emerging markets such as China, the Middle East and Africa, but was also launched into the UK earlier this year.
