According to a story from Taiwan's XFN, Sony will begin taking delivery of PlayStation 3 consoles this month.

The story, citing the Commercial Times, says that Asustek Computer plans to deliver the consoles to Sony later this month as the electronics giant tries to ramp up for the holiday season.

Sony has said it plans to release the PS3, its entry in the next-generation console wars, on Nov. 11 in Japan and Nov. 17 in the U.S..

The XFN story says Sony's first consignment of PS3s is for 4 million units, with deliveries of 200,000 a month until October, at which point the number will rise to 2 million.

The story also reported that Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. will soon begin making the consoles for Sony.
