Sony T series goes touchscreen

Phil Ryan
Sony has announced two new Cyber Shot cameras today. One, called the DSC-T50, is a new flagship for the company's slim T series. It includes a 7-megapixel CCD sensor, a 3X optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens with optical image stabilization, sensitivity to as high as ISO 1,000, and a 3-inch touch-screen LCD that is the main method of control for the camera. Like the last couple of T-series cameras, in addition to a Memory Stick Duo slot, the DSC-T50 includes built-in flash memory--this time 56 megabytes--and a slide-show mode complete with music and transitions. According to Sony, the DSC-T50 will ship with an InfoLithium rechargeable battery that can provide power for as many as 400 shots per charge. Available in red, black, and silver finishes, the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T50 is expected to hit stores in October for about $500.
