The new AVR features nine HDMI-in ports and, impressively, four LAN ports that essentially work as an Ethernet hub for other devices with internet-connectivity. Given Sony's push of its IPTV offerings and the Sony Entertainment Network, this is a clever addition by the company.

The STRDA5800ES is 4K capable, as mentioned before, with both pass-through and upscaling of video available. Zone 2 HDMI out port means that you can stream video and sound to a second room, and there's an on-screen preview function that lets you see what's available on other connected HDMI sources in a small on-screen window.

For audiophiles, the Concert Hall setting even allows you to specify which concert hall you want — acoustic presets allow for you to choose between the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Musikverein Vienna.

Sony has confirmed that the STRDA5800ES will be available in Australia, but has yet to name pricing or availability dates.
