Sony gets into the GPS game

TomTom, Garmin, and Magellan--there's a new face in the in-car GPS world, so take note. Sony is getting into the game with its sleek and portable Sony Nav-U. It features a 3.5-inch touch screen that automatically adjusts the brightness level of the display based on the amount of light around the unit. Maps of the 48 continguous states are preloaded on the device, as well as 1.6 million points of interest. There's also a two-way speaker system (one in the front and one in the back) for enhanced sound. While all these features are great, it's nothing we haven't seen before. In fact, we'd say the Nav-U is a little behind the game compared with what TomTom and Garmin are putting out. The Sony Nav-U will cost around $700 and should be available by mid-February.
