Sony's Music Unlimited service is coming to the PlayStation Portable.

Starting on Thursday, PSP owners with PlayStation Network IDs will be able to access Music Unlimited from their portable gaming devices. When people load up the app, they will be able to access millions of tracks on the streaming service from a range of major and independent labels.

The news of Music Unlimited coming to the PSP isn't all that surprising. Late last month, Shawn Layden, CEO of Sony Network Entertainment, told Eurogamer that Music Unlimited would be available to PSP owners "in a matter of weeks." He also pointed out that the service will be part of Sony's upcoming gaming device, codenamed Next Generation Portable, which is set to launch at the end of 2011.

Music Unlimited launched in the U.S. earlier this year and is available on a range of Sony devices, including Bravia TVs, Blu-ray players, and the PlayStation 3 console. It offers a $3.99 per month basic plan that gives customers access to the service on the aforementioned devices, as well as the ability to sync music playlists on the subscriber's computer.

Sony's premium subscription plan costs $9.99 per month and gives people access to "premium" channels in addition to all the features available in the basic plan. It also adds unlimited playback of all 7 million available songs.

To access Music Unlimited from the PSP, consumers must be running firmware version 6.37, Sony said.
