Sony Bloggie mini-camcorder: Pocket HD

A range of new HD mini-camcorders from Sony, called Bloggie, offer 5-megapixel stills and 1080p video, taking on the Flip Video for teeny-tiny fun

The blog is dead, but the Bloggie is just being born -- it's Sony's new high-definition mini-camcorder.

The follow-up to the Mobile HD Snap Camera -- known in the States as the Webbie -- will be going up against the Flip Video to be the camcorder of choice for drunken revels (pictured), citizen journalism and amateur porn.

The Bloggie has three models, the PM5, CM5 and PM5K, all of which capture 1,920x1,080-pixel Full HD MP4 video clips and 5-megapixel still photos, controlled with separate buttons so you don't have to switch modes to grab stills and video.

The PM5 is a candybar-style model similar to the Flip Video, while the CM5 has a flip-out screen like more traditional camcorders. The CM5 also has a 5x optical zoom lens and an HDMI connector so you can watch its HD videos on your telly.

The PM5K also includes a lens adaptor that films 360-degree video, capturing a panorama of everything around it. Both the PM5 and the PM5K have lenses that swivel through 270 degrees so you can shoot yourself from above for that ideal MySpace angle.

The Bloggie range will be available in February, with prices to come.
