Sony at CES: 4.2M PlayStation 4 consoles sold in 2013
The Japanese electronics company says the PlayStation 4 launch was the biggest console launch ever.
Sony has sold more than 4.2 million PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, the company announced Tuesday at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, said the PS4 launch was the largest console launch ever with Sony selling 2.1 million consoles in the first two weeks. That figure grew to 4.2 million units as of December 28, he boasted at Sony's keynote event.
The figure beats Microsoft's Xbox One sales as of the end of 2013. Microsoft said it sold 3 million units by the end of December, with 2 million within the first two weeks of its November launch.
