Sony announces first-party launch line-up for PS Vita
It'll be here in February, and now Sony has announced the full line-up of its games to accompany its new handheld console.
Sony's next-gen handheld, the PS Vita, looks like a pretty mean piece of kit, but everyone knows it's the games that maketh the console.
There are 11 Sony games incoming on launch day, as well as a host of third-party titles already announced, reports MCV. It should brighten up your February no end.
That full list of Sony titles for launch day is: Unchartered: Golden Abyss, WipEout 2048, Reality Fighters, Little Deviants, ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Everybody's Golf, Escape Plan, Unit 13, MotorStorm RC, Top Darts and Hustle Kings.
MotorStorm RC and Unit 13 are the only two not to be previously announced to be in development.
Our verdict? Solid, but a little uninspiring. Look at how many sequels there are. Sony's first-party games have never really done it for us anyway, with a few exceptions.
Sony also confirmed 38 third-party launch titles, including EA Sports FIFA Football, Michael Jackson: The Experience HD, Ninja Gaiden, Ridge Racer, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, and Assassin's Creed. Again, plenty of sequels, but a far stronger line-up in our opinion.
The PS Vita will launch in the UK on 22 February. It'll also be coming to Vodafone, so any 3G models sold will come with that network's SIM for browsing and downloads. Anyone using Vodafone will also get a free copy of WipEout 2048 for their troubles.
Those lucky Japanese, meanwhile, will get their hands on the Vita in December, which doesn't seem very fair.
A post-Christmas launch date, along with poor battery life and competition from mobile games could see the Vita struggle. Would you buy one? And what do you think of that launch line-up? Let us know down in the comments section or over on our Facebook page.
