Mirroring last year's launch of the LG G Flex, Singapore will be the first country outside of South Korea to receive the second-generation curved octa-core smartphone.

LG's G Flex 2 is set to make its first global debut outside of South Korea, and it's headed to the high-tech island city-state of Singapore. The phone, which has been available in South Korea since January 30, is the successor to last year's curved-screen LG G Flex .

The phone will be available for pre-order on February 27, and will retail in stores from March 14 for S$998 without contract (converting directly to around $800 or £480).

While there's no word yet on when it will hit stores in the US or the UK, we do know that AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular will carry the handset stateside, while Vodafone will have exclusivity for six weeks after the launch in the UK. If the South Korean handset maker sticks to a similar release schedule to the first G Flex, UK and US buyers should expect the G Flex 2 in spring.

The G Flex 2 has plenty of similarities with LG's first curved phone. Its defining feature is the phone's 23-degree arc display, designed to fit the contours of your face. It's also the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 810-powered octa-core phone to make it to market.

Available in silver and red, the premium G Flex 2 feels like a step up from the original. It sports a smaller display than the G Flex (5.5-inch compared to 6-inch), but this time around it comes with a higher full-HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). This means the phone has a higher pixel density as well, coming in at 403ppi.

Other improvements include a stronger front glass display and a "self-healing" back cover that LG says will recover from scratches and scuffs within seconds.
