Silverlining Lite and duplicate SyQuest icons on G3/BW Macs

Richard Knight tried connecting an Syquest EZ-135 removable cartridge drive to his G3/BW using the Apple-installed SCSI card. He was using LaCie's Silverlining Lite 2.2.2. He writes: "The Mac recognizes the Syquest drive (as shown in Apple System Profiler or SCSI Probe 5.1) but, when it mounts, the cartridge on the desktop it mounts two identical icons! The problem appears to be related to the driver, not the Syquest drive hardware. Turning off SCSI Probe's 'Mount At Startup' option helped intermittently but did not entirely eliminate the problem."

I contacted LaCie about this. They replied: "We have received word of a few customer's experiences regarding duplicate icons. Once we are able to duplicate, we can investigate further. We have nothing conclusive at this time."

Update: Ervin Mezey reports that using SyQuest Utilities for the Macintosh v4.0.1 may work-around this problem.
