Silverlining 6.3 may prevent starting up from CDs

Jay Miller writes: "I used Silverlining Pro 6.3 to partition the hard drive on my new Power Mac G4 MP. Next I booted from the OS Install CD and installed OS 9.0.4. So far, so good. However, I am no longer able to boot from that (or any other) CD, whether I use the Startup Disk control panel, the "c" key method, or the "option" key (Startup Manager) method. In the latter two cases, I get the flashing "?" icon for 10 or 15 seconds, and then the machine boots from the hard drive." LaCie Technical Support replied: "What you have explained is a known issue with Silverlining 6.3. You will need to either downgrade to 6.21 or await the 6.3.3 release which will fix the issue. The only downside to downgrading to 6.21 is that you will not be able to format MS-DOS partitions or RAID FireWire drives. A free update to 6.3.3 will be available for download when released."
