Later this week, will introduce a new version of its client software, which allows users to receive custom news feeds and other information on their desktops. PointCast 1.1 will add file compression capabilities that will speed downloading of information by scrunching files by up to 50 percent, according to published reports. Although PointCast has got rave reviews for its slick implementation, and has signed on major news and information providers, the company has been singled out for not addressing the speed issue.
