Short Take: WDC to miss mark
Disk drive maker Western Digital warned that its fourth-quarter results will fall "substantially short" of analyst expectations, before one-time charges, and that it expects an operating loss of more than $100 million, or $1.14 a share. WDC attributed the shortfall to intense pricing pressures and reduced unit volumes in its desktop hard drive business.
