Short Take: Sony to open Pittsburgh chip center

Sony Electronics announced it will establish the Sony Semiconductor Design Center in Pittsburgh this fall, to develop technologies for semiconductors for broadband applications. The facility initially will focus on designing semiconductors that incorporate personal security technologies for the Internet. In the future, the company will expand activities to wireless network and broadband network-related semiconductor technologies. The Design Center will be directed by Dr. Yoji Kato, president of the semiconductor business division of Sony Electronics.
