Short Take: PanAmSat launches new satellite

Capping a mixed year, PanAmSat has successfully launched a new satellite. The "bird," PanAmSat's 19th, will serve the South American broadcasting and Brazilian direct-to-home satellite TV markets. The PAS-6B satellite, built by Hughes Space and Communications, is PanAmSat's sixth satellite serving Latin American markets and the third bird launched by the company this year. PanAmSat plans to launch six more satellites in the next 18 months.
