Nokia and Intel made available the Narrowband Sockets specification 1.0 and implementations for Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 9x platforms. Applications using narrowband sockets allow for wireless delivery of email and other information to mobile PCs. The specification makes narrowband sockets work with GSM networks. Free licenses to the specification and implementations are available on the Intel and Nokia Web sites.
