Short Take: Nanya ramps up for DRAM production

Nanya Technology announced it will spend more than $800 million on its newest 200-mm DRAM fabrication plant in Taiwan. The plant will start full production in mid-2000. The new facility is a 200-mm wafer operation capable of producing 30,000 wafers a month. The plant is now in pilot production of 128-MB DRAMs using 0.175-micron technology. By late 2000, Nanya expects to bring 256-MB DRAM production to market.
