Short Take: Motorola expands China?s infrastructure

Fujian Posts and Telecommunications Administration of China (Fujian PTA) signed three contracts, valued at $108 million, to purchase Motorola cellular infrastructure equipment to expand its analog and digital mobile telephone systems in China's Fujian province. The capacity of the analog and digital networks, which is currently 280,000 subscribers, will increase to 490,000. Shipment of the Motorola infrastructure equipment is expected to begin this month with commercial service planned for the first quarter of 1997.
