Short Take: Lucent revenues are record

Lucent Technologies reported a net income of $859 million, or $1.35 a share for its first quarter of 1997, compared to a net loss of $1.02 billion, or a loss of $1.60 per share, for the same quarter last year. Lucent reported record quarterly revenues of $7.94 billion, up from $7.43 billion. On a full 1996 calendar year basis, revenues yielded 11 percent growth, or almost 14 percent growth on continuing operations. The company's net income was $1.08 billion, compared to a loss of $867 million in calendar year 1995, which included restructuring charges.
