Short Take: IXC posts second quarter loss

IXC Communications, a telecommunications carrier recently acquired by Cincinnati Bell, posted a second quarter net loss of $114.2 million, or $3.53 a share, including charges. The results compared with a net loss of $102.5 million, or $3.30 a share, including charges for the same period a year ago. Quarterly revenue rose slightly to $157.9 million from $155.9 million last year. IXC said it is placing less emphasis on its circuit-switched wholesale long distance voice business.
