For the second quarter in a row, E*Trade topped Gomez Advisors quarterly ranking of Internet brokers. E*Trade barely edged out Charles Schwab, which claimed the no. 2 spot in the ranking released today. Fidelity Investments, National Discount Brokers, and DLJdirect rounded out the top 5. Gomez bases its rankings on direct examination of sites, monitoring the performance of the sites, interviews with the sites' brokers and customer service representatives, and a supplemental questionnaire.
