Short Take: AT&T to use Cisco IP network tech

AT&T plans to use technology from Cisco Systems as a means to integrate elements of its network based on Internet protocol (IP), and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). AT&T plans to deploy Cisco switches that support both transmission methods, and will utilize multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), an emerging protocol used to better manage and classify various forms of network traffic.
