Short: Compaq announced VP, new business unit

Compaq Computer corralled a veteran Hewlett-Packard executive to run its recently unveiled workstation business unit. Mark Canepa, a 20-year HP veteran, becomes vice president of Compaq's workstation division, effective immediately. Canepa most recently was general manager of HP's workstation systems division. Compaq plans to use Intel's Pentium Pro processor and Microsoft's Windows NT Workstation operating system as the cornerstones of a workstation strategy that offers PC-style prices with Unix-style workstation performance.
