Sharp is bullish on its next several months as demand for the company's smartphone screens hits a new high.

The company reported Thursday that its smartphone screen shipments could exceed its initial estimates as strong demand from China-based manufacturers has significantly boosted its operation. According to Reuters, which earlier reported on Sharp's comments, the company has signed up 15 Chinese companies in need of smartphone screens and is working at producing displays for 25 models that will be shipped to the Chinese market.

China is becoming a more important market for companies around the world. Just about every major company is attempting to find a way to capture the attention of China's ever-growing consumer base.

While Sharp has several competitors in the smartphone screen business, including LG and Samsung, the company has done a solid job at attracting China-based vendors, which has fueled its business. In the last six months alone, Sharp has seen its shipments of small and midsized displays rise 50 percent because of Chinese vendors, led by the country's most popular brand, Xiaomi.

Sharp is also a key supplier for Apple.

Sharp did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
