If you ever though that a Volvo couldn't be sexy, prepare to be surprised. Nouphone J. Bansasine designed this slick 2015 Volvo S90 concept during his internship at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center--birthplace of the XC90, S80, S60, and the Safety Concept Car that would become the current--and it's probably the sweetest looking Volvo that we've ever seen.
The S90 has the four-door coupe profile that is so very popular with automakers these days, but it has what appear to be rear suicide doors, a la
Volvo hasn't released information as to what sort of power train would live beneath this hypothetical S90 concept's hood. But considering that this car is meant to compete in the premium sport sedan segment, we're assuming that it would have to be pretty powerful to run with the likes of theand the still-conceptual . The presence of an odd, green badge on the concept's rear possibly hints at hybrid aspirations. And because this is a Volvo, we'd expect a suite of active safety technologies and perhaps even an all-wheel-drive system.
The fact that this concept was born in an official Volvo design facility separates Bansasine's S90 from mere fan art. However, Volvo has made no announcement of plans to actually build the S90 concept. What do you think? Could you see the S90 prowling the same showroom floors as the S60 and C70?
