See the original Ghostbusters meet Luke Skywalker as proton flies

When sci-fi franchises collide, you get fireworks. The Ghostbusters are a little jumpy when they meet Luke Skywalker for the first time in an entertaining mashup video.

Three original Ghostbusters and a Jedi walk into a hotel. It sounds like the setup for a bad joke, but it's the premise behind a short mashup video that brings the phantasm-fighting world of "Ghostbusters" together with Star Wars.

The clever mix of footage follows proton pack-wearing Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman and Ray Stantz as they walk carefully through a hotel corridor, wands at the ready. Unfortunate Luke Skywalker startles the trio and ends up on the receiving end of a powerful proton blast. The video combines footage from the 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie with a side-to-side flipped clip from "Return of the Jedi."

YouTube user Mike Phirman posted the mashup on Monday. The internet is interested in all things "Ghostbusters" at the moment thanks to the new female-led movie coming out in July. As much as we would love to see a Mark Hamill cameo, it's not likely we'll ever get any Jedi crossover action beyond Phirman's short and immensely entertaining fan video.
