School rewards students with fake online Lady Gaga

A school employee is disciplined after trying to fool elementary school students in New Jersey that they are having an online chat with Lady Gaga.

Is there anything worse than disappointing an excited child? Especially if you've promised the little tyke that he or she will be able to have an online chat with royalty?

It seems that an employee of a Tenafly, N.J., elementary school might be pondering this after promising kids, as a reward for their work, that they would be able to chat online with the world's most famous lady. No, not little Miss Kate Middleton, but the great Lady Gaga.

You might wonder how this employee thought she might have access to her ladyship. You might think that the chances were infinitely small. But in this case, the school employee reportedly told the kids she had interned at MTV while Gaga, who is from New Jersey, was also there.

CBS New York offered a painful account of this desperate episode.

This was going to be a video chat. There were going to be autographed pictures. There were going to be lessons in dressing up.

I might be exaggerating about that last part. However, when it came to the fateful hour, the teacher suddenly offered that the computer equipment was mysteriously malfunctioning.

One little boy, fourth-grader Michael Ranaldi, told CBS New York: "At first I thought it was really weird because she had glasses on. And they said her microphone was disabled."

Kids can see through a fake far quicker than adults. Kids know that Her Gaganess would never agree to appear anywhere where there was imperfect equipment. And surely she would not have readily agreed to sit in front of a camera and type out her answers on chat, as seems to have happened here.

While the teacher is reportedly being disciplined (the exact nature of this discipline has not been revealed), the hearts of many will surely be bursting for the kids. There could be permanent psychological scars already forming in their craniums. Their relationships with the famous might never be trusting again.

There is, therefore, only one solution. The real Lady Gaga--the former Stefani Germanotta from New Jersey--must fly in and make a personal appearance at this school in order to right these young psyches.

When the future of New Jersey society is at stake, all measures must be taken to ensure its stability. Having myself interned with Her Gaganess at McDonald's, I will make the appropriate entreaties, and I hope that anyone out there with a similar connection will do the same.
