If you lead a busy life online or manage a Facebook page or Twitter profile where you would like help scheduling posts, Postfity is a slick, easy-to-use, and free Web service that can help you stay on top of your social media comings and goings.

The free version of Postfity lets you add up five accounts and you can schedule up to 10 posts a day. There are three paid plans that up the number of accounts and pending posts, among other added features.

The free service will suffice for your purposes, I'd imagine, unless you manage brands or celebrity profiles, and call yourself a social media professional.

To get started, you will need to allow Postfity to access your Facebook account. It promises not to post to your page, save for the posts you schedule. After connecting to your Facebook account, you can then add any Facebook pages you manage, and any Twitter accounts.

To schedule a post, head to the Add Content tab and choose which accounts you'd like to send it to by clicking on the profile pictures of your intended targets. Then in the box below, write your post. You can add links to your posts, and there is a button below the box that lets you add photos. If you have a Twitter account activated for a post you are writing, a counter keeps track of your remaining characters. When your post is set, click the Schedule button. By default, posts are scheduled 30 minutes in the future but you can select the date and time.

Your scheduled Facebook posts and tweets are listed at the bottom of the page, and you can edit, reschedule, and cancel any of the 10 listed. In this section, you can view content posted in in the past, the posts that went live or are scheduled to post today, and those scheduled for the future.

You can also republish and "multiply" scheduled posts. The multiply feature lets you schedule a post to hit for a number of days in a row, if there is an event or contest you aim to promote. You select the number of times for it to post and the number of days between each post.

On the Archive tab, you can view the status updates and tweets that Postfity posted for you (like you can at the bottom of the Add Content page), as well as the number of comments, likes, and shares for each Facebook post, and the number of retweets and favorites for each tweet.

In addition to scheduling posts, you can click on the arrow along the right edge of the Schedule button to access two other options: "Post now" and "Add to queue." The former posts your content immediately, while the latter adds your post to your queue along with the posts you scheduled yourself, but saves you the step of picking the date and time. Try as I might, I could not discern a pattern to the times Postfity selected for the Add to queue option.

Unfortunately, you can post only to your own Facebook page with Postfity and you can't tag friends, which means you can't use the service to line up your birthday wishes for the week.
