ScanWise and ColorSync: another follow-up

ScanWise and ColorSync: another follow-up

CNET staff
Following up yet again on the issue of the Agfa 1212U scanner, ScanWise software and a problem with recent versions of ColorSync (as reported here before), Chris Potrebka offers another solution:
On a Agfa 1212U scanner with ScanWise connected to a Mac running 8.6, you may get an error stating: "Some components are missing. Please reinstall the application with the correct scanner. If the problem persists, contact your supplier." This error is due to an improperly set ColorSync Profile. To set the profile open the Monitors & Sound control panel. Select the Color button. In the profile menu Select the Agfa: Virtual Monitor, and click Calibrate. Follow the instructions in the Monitor Calibration Assistant, restart the computer and try to scan again.

Also, in talking with the Agfa tech, he informed me of another possible error. If an unexpected error occurs during scanning, try setting the paper type to photo-mate rather than glossy.

Stefan Oetter has a related suggestion: "The problem lies in where ColorSync stores the monitor profiles. In 2.6 the files are moved to a new location and ScanWise cannot find them. The work-around is to set your ColorSync Profile to 17" Display-D65 (close enough) and it works fine."
