Sat nav standard on high-end Toyota Yaris models
This week Toyota launched its third-generation Yaris/Echo and despite maxing out at around AU$21K (before on-road costs), it can claim to be the first car in its class to come with sat nav standard on some models.
This week Toyota launched its third-generation Yaris/Echo and despite maxing out at around AU$21K (before on-road costs), it can claim to be the first car in its class to come with sat nav standard on some models.
Toyota's new entertainment and nav system is standard fit on the AU$18,990 ZR three-door hatch and AU$21,390 YRX five-door hatchback. The system features a 6.1-inch touchscreen and is powered by the iGo navigation software.
GPS features include text-to-speech for spoken street name instructions (a rarity on factory fit GPS units), Suna traffic messaging, junction view, split screen, and alerts for speed limits, school zones and cameras.
Steering wheel audio controls, voice controls, Bluetooth for both hands-free and music streaming, radio text display and a CD player are all standard on the six-speaker sound system. There's also a USB port that's iPod compatible and capable of playing back DivX movie files (when parked, of course).
The new system is also currently available in the top-of-the-range Hilux SR5 ute that debuted last month and will likely roll out to other new Toyota models, including the Camry and Aurion.
