Samsung SyncMaster S27B970 First Take: Beautiful and thoughtless

The Samsung SyncMaster S27B970 is Samsung's answer to Apple's Thunderbolt Display, but can it match that display's high design quality?

Thanks to the fine folks over at Samsung, this week I got the chance to check out the Samsung SyncMaster S27B970 in pre-production form.

As you can see from the picture above, the monitor is quite striking in looks and while this is a preproduction model, performance (aside from a few bugs) is also really impressive.

There is one thing that scorches my giblets though. Someone at Samsung (at least for this preproduction model) really didn't consider that a user may want to, I dont know, remove the DisplayPort connection from the monitor without also damaging the cable at the time? I'm being a bit cryptic, but it's best to see it in action for yourself.

For my full first impressions of the SyncMaster S27B970, the First Take is sitting just a click away waiting to inform you of things. Possibly, important things.

For monitor reviews and top 5 lists, the monitor hub is another link filled to the brim with useful information.
