Samsung said to sign three-year, $100 million deal with NBA

The South Korean electronics giant reportedly scores a courtside deal with the NBA to be its official provider of tablets and televisions.

The NBA and Samsung have signed a major deal that will see the electronics company gain serious visibility at games, according to a new report.

The NBA and Samsung's deal is valued at $100 million over three years, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the agreement. Under the terms of the deal, Samsung will provide to the NBA both televisions and tablets for use courtside when the NBA starts its new season on Tuesday. The televisions will act as the monitors referees use to review close calls, according to the Journal.

CNET has contacted Samsung and the NBA for more information and will update this report when we learn more.

Samsung's deal with the NBA goes beyond just providing devices. The NBA will customize its video, the Journal said, to optimize it for Samsung's many devices, including televisions.
