Samsung RF712 laptop has retina-searing 3D display

Grab your shades, gaming fans -- Samsung is about to brighten up our lives with its latest range of 3D-enabled laptops. The company's forthcoming RF712 promises to deliver industry-leading brightness, allowing it to counteract the effect tinted 3D glasses have on picture quality.
The RF712's 17.3-inch display will feature the same Super Bright Plus system used in Samsung's Series 9 laptop, according to Akihabara, with a quoted brightness of 400 nits. As a result, you should be able to use the thing even in broad daylight, though we'd be careful about switching it on in the dead of night without 3D glasses -- unless you want to know what cooking retinas smell like.
The Samsung RF712 will output video at 1,920x1,080-pixel Full HD resolution. It'll also feature either dual-core Core i5 or quad-core Core i7 flavoured Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, an AMD Radeon HD6650M graphics adaptor with 2GB of video memory, a 3D-compatible Blu-ray drive, and up to two 750GB hard disks.
Samsung will include a single pair of active-shutter glasses in the box, though if you fancy enjoying a spot Piranha 3D with friends, it'll also allow up to three other 3D glasses to connect wirelessly.
Sadly, Samsung has yet to announce UK pricing and availability for the RF712, but the system will be available in South Korea on 2 May for around ₩2.6m (about £1,453).
