Is this Samsung's next special edition phone?

Evan Blass

Rumor has it that Samsung will release an exclusive version of the Galaxy S7 Edge for the 2016 Rio Olympics. This wouldn't be a huge surprise coming from a sponsor that has already released an emotional ad about the Olympic Games.

Though the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition was initially reported three months ago when SamMobile "received information" about the device, a newly leaked photo from Evan Blass has surfaced and rekindled the rumor's flames. Blass has a reputation for reliably breaking stories through his Twitter handle evleaks.

The purported Olympic Edition of the phone looks very sleek. It's all black, save for red and green buttons on the sides; gold trim around the home button and receiver on the front; and similar blue trimming around the camera and flash on the back. A blue Olympic logo is also located on the back, towards the bottom edge.

Rumors about Samsung developing VR Olympic apps are also floating around, but at this point, nothing has been confirmed.

Samsung, which recently released a Batman edition of the Galaxy S7 Edge, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
