Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime hinted at in Bluetooth listing
The Bluetooth SIG cites an as-yet announced Samsung smartphone that could well be the expected Galaxy S5 Prime.
The long-rumored Galaxy S5 Prime, an updated version of Samsung's Galaxy S5, might have just popped up in a certification listing.
Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) published a listing recently showing approval of an as-yet announced Samsung product known as the "SM-G906L." Although the listing doesn't describe what the device's public name will be, speculation abounds that Samsung is working on a new device dubbed the Galaxy S5 Prime, and it will launch sooner rather than later.
The Bluetooth SIG listing doesn't say what features the device might offer, but the Prime is believed to come with a quad-HD display featuring a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. It'll also come with an advanced chipset -- either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 or Samsung's latest Exynos processor.
Certification by the Bluetooth SIG, which oversees the development of the Bluetooth wireless standard, is one of many that mobile devices need before they can hit store shelves. Now that Samsung has received Bluetooth SIG approval, it's one step closer to getting whatever the device is to store shelves.
