The latest Samsung Galaxy S3 news: the long-awaited phone has made an appearance on the Amazon Germany site, flaunting its specs.

They're pretty much as expected, with a couple of exceptions. The screen is listed as a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED, while we were expecting a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus, but let's not quibble. (Though among the rumours doing the rounds was talk of a 4.8-incher.) The phone is also given as 16GB, expandable to 32GB, but that could be a roundabout way of saying a 32GB version is available.

German site BestBoyZ made the spot, The Verge reports. Those two variations aside, everything is pretty much as expected, with a 12-megapixel camera and Android Ice Cream Sandwich onboard. Annoyingly, there's no picture to go with the listing, so we'll have to make do with the run of suspect shots of it in the wild that have been littering the web.

There's no release date given either, though we're expecting a full reveal on 3 May at the London launch event. We'll be there, bringing you all the news as it happens, so stay tuned that evening.

The S3 has generated the kind of excitement usually reserved for a new Apple product. New pictures leaked this week, along with a video from Vietnam. If it's to be believed, the screen resolution will be 720x1,184-pixels, with a dpi just under 320. That's short of the iPhone 4S's 326dpi, but still very impressive on a screen that size.

It's also said to be a modest upgrade to the S2, which is no bad thing, and it might not even be called the S3, which would be interesting. Maybe Samsung will 'do an Apple' and call it the 'new Galaxy', or 'next Galaxy', or something similar. It's less than two weeks now until we find out for sure.
