Samsung Galaxy Note 3 joins Tocco Lite in 10 million club

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has taken notes from 10 million wallets. Samsung has announced it has sold 10 million Note 3 phablets in just 60 days -- clearly the new faux-leather styling is a hit.

The original Note was a surprise hit in 2011, as phone fans went nuts for the huge screen and S Pen stylus. Both the original Note and its follow-up the Note 2 also sold over 10 million, but the Note 3 has outstripped both in its rate of sales.

To celebrate the milestone, Samsung has compiled a list of its phones that join the '10 million club'. The first Samsung phone to do so was the T100 back in 2002.

That was followed by the E700, another clamshell phone with a screen on the outside. Then there was a run of sliders between 2004 and 2008: the D500, D900, E250 and J700. After that came the S5230 Tocco Lite, which shifted 10 million in six months.

Samsung's dominance of Android was signalled by 10 million sales of the original Galaxy S in 2010, kicking off a run of success as the S2, S3 and S4 all did boffo business.

Samsung is set to continue the trend with the Galaxy S5, due in the new year -- and perhaps cash registers will chime too for a rumoured Note 3 Lite.
