Samsung Galaxy Core is yet another cut-down Jelly Bean phone
On the day the Samsung Galaxy S4 hits shops, a new wallet-friendly phone apparently called the Galaxy Core has leaked.
Core blimey! On the day the Samsung Galaxy S4 hits shops and the Korean company announces record profits, a new wallet-friendly phone apparently called the Galaxy Core has leaked.
If reports from Russian blog Hi-Tech are to be believed, the Core sports a 4.3-inch screen, with a resolution of 800x480 pixels.
Underneath is some roundly average but perfectly serviceable technology: a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 768MB of RAM might balk at the latest graphics-intensive games, but will get you through your everyday tasks. The software on board is Android 4.1, which isn't quite the latest version of Android -- that'll be Android 4.2 -- but is better than a kick in the crotch.
The Core allegedly packs a 5-megapixel camera, with 8GB of internal memory for your photos, movies and music. Along with the usual GPS and Wi-Fi, it has Bluetooth 4.0.
The Core is pretty similar to most cut-down Galaxy smart phones, such as the Galaxy S2 Plus and Galaxy S3 Mini, and the Win, and the Star, and the Pocket Neo, and the Fame, and the Young, and the S4 Mini... Do you think Samsung makes too many phones? Well, the company's bank balance says not.

The Core heads to Russia in the first couple of weeks in May. The Russian price is reported to be around £280, but I doubt it'll cost that much if it does come to the UK. We'll keep you posted.
