SAM 4.5.1 Update Installation: a follow-up

I continue to get a pile of email offering solutions to the problems installing the SAM 4.5.1 update. They range from simply reinstalling the base 4.5 software from your back-up disks to a detailed step-by-step set of instructions that go on for several paragraphs. And, in many cases, other readers report that a given suggested solution did not work for them. It seems to me that the best solution would be for Symantec to release a fixed version of the 4.5.1 update - one that works without undue hassle. I have contacted Symantec on this issue, but have so far not gotten a reply.
